Sporting Motion Lab FAQ
How long does a Sporting Motion Lab session take?
Motion lab appointments are booked for two hours to allow for a detailed history and physical exam, followed by multi-plane gait analysis.
How is Sporting Motion Lab bike positioning different from bike shop fits?
A Sporting Motion Lab cycling analysis ensures that bike positioning and pedal stroke mechanics are optimized for your musculoskeletal anatomy. Dr. Graham uses X-ray and MRI findings, orthopaedic physical exam, joint range of motion assessments, and motion capture technology to help patients find the ideal position and pedal stroke to minimize and eliminate stress on injured tissue.
What should I wear?
Please wear a cycling kit and try to minimize reflective logos.
Do I need to bring my bike?
Yes. Pedal stroke analysis and bike fitting is done on your personal bike. We have a universal trainer here at the clinic, but you are welcome to bring your trainer if preferred. Please ensure you bring your own bike tools so that we can make positioning changes.
Are Sporting Motion Lab evaluations done more the once?
Sporting Motion Lab evaluations are valuable experiences when done as a single event, but can also be done serially. Packages with reduced rates are available.
SIMI Reality Motion Systems provides a highly objective movement evaluation. The data is collected and stored in your patient chart, allowing direct comparison of evaluations done at different time points. This allows Dr. Graham to observe changes in mechanics and confirm decreased injury risk. Patients engaged in a Sporting Medicine Return to Sport program are evaluated continually as part of their return to play timeline.
